Born in Benton Arkansas and a life-long resident of Saline County and raised with his three sisters (that already makes him tough) by their parents (married 53 years), Carlton learned early on the value of hard work (in their family business, Floors & More- celebrating 45 years with the last 43 years in the same location), teamwork, and perseverance. He graduated from Benton High School and has a B.A. from University of Arkansas Little Rock. He earned his college degree while working two jobs so that he was debt free when receiving his diploma.

They all attend church at Indian Springs Baptist Church. Carlton and his family are avid Razorback football, Major League Baseball (St. Louis Cardinals), and college baseball fans.
